OpenSimSim lecture at EcoSummit 2011:
http://ecosummit.net/articles/daniel-dendra-opensimsim-open-source-design-and-architecture
“The architect and open source design advocate Daniel Dendra talks at Ecosummit 2011 about the need to share design and architecture know-how globally using the power of the Internet to accelerate the smart green transformation of the built environment. Daniel is founding partner of OpenSimSim and anOtherArchitect. I like Daniel’s ideas as I am currently thinking about a new Internet platform for prefab build-to-order smart green buildings. Reusing the best ideas for cost-efficient smart green buildings while integrating the best materials, designs and appliances – that’s a powerful vision.”
At the moment we are finalizing our urban study on the city of Pereslavl in Russia. On our last study trip to the city we took a lot of pictures in and around the city with the iconic lake. We published the most impressive images on our flickr account:

Even the weather was rainy the pictures should give a good first impression on the character of the lake town.

WORLD ARCHITECTURE DAY
Today we are not only celebrating the re-unifaction day in Germany but it is also the international day of architecture by the International Union of Architects (UIA). Not sure if it is pure accident that this two celebration fall on the same day. Either it´s ironic or there is a hidden link between the two subjects ;)
Nevertheless it was nice to receive this card from the Russian National Museum of Architecture (A.V. Shusev - MUAR) with portraits of a lot of famous architects ;)
Try to find anOtherArchitect …. ;)
Hint: draw an imaginary line between Frank O. Gehry, Oscar Niemeyer and Lebbeus Woods. Right next to Sergei Tchoban.
I hope this was not already my 15min of fame. Happy celebrations (for whatever reason you do it today) !!!
COPENHAGEN LECTURE - SAXO BANK invited by Martin Professional
At a recent lecture about the potential of interactive and dynamic lighting in cities I was showing also the example above. Doing some more research on the topic I found this interesting interview with Golan Levin and Zach Lieberman (creator of night lights).
The Art of Coding, The Coding of Art is definitely an interesting read …
NAL CONFERENCE OSLO - 23.11.2011
anOtherArchitect : Daniel Dendra is talking at the 100th anniversary of the national Association of norwegian Architects (NAL) symposium in Oslo.
“The world is changing. Yesterday’s models are no longer rele- vant for today. We must all remain open to new methods and approaches to creating architecture, and we need to continue to draw upon each others experiences. this year’s architecture Conference is focusing on participation, communication and exchange in architecture.
NaL have invited a number of leading architects, reseachers and writers, who’s work has, in different ways, challenged the boundaries of architectural practice, both in relation to how we create architecture, and how we communicate architecture in a wider social context.
Welcome to 2011’s Architecture Conference, and the opening of the festival week in the Year of Architecture which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the national Association of norwegian Architects.”
aA goes Uzbekistan
We received an invitation by the Goethe Institute to moderate together with Transsolar a workshop on architecture and sustainability in Tashkent.
Does anyone have some interesting references of buildings or sites to visit in Uzbekistan?

WE MOVED
The last months we were pretty busy and completely forgot to announce officially our new address. Our studio is now at
Goethe Str. 2-3 (Aufgang B - 4th floor) in 10623 Berlin Charlottenburg.
The diagrams above show the time you need to reach our studio by public transport within 15 / 20 / 30 and 45min. This analysis is based on a great new online analysis tool called Mapnificient by a young Berlin based developer.
Our closest public transport stations are:
U9 + trains | Berlin Zoo(logischer Garten)
U12 | Ernst-Reuter-Platz
S-Bahn | Savignyplatz
You can check out several European and US cities on the interactive website: http://www.mapnificent.net/
TWEETx Installation at TEDxHamburg
In collaboration with Kollison and Martin Professional (both Aarhus, Denmark) we installed this interactive LED scrren at the TEDx conference in Hamburg.
At any technology orientated conference such as TED there is an invisible Twitter-scape broadcasting the event live to the WWW. The density of this virtual landscape is usually hidden to people not using Twitter.
TWEETx is an interactive wall that reacts on the tweets that were written in the lecture hall and about the TED conference and displays it visual to the audience.
Thanks to Rune from Kollision for putting together this great movie.
