THINK exhibit in New York
More and more big cooperations understood the financial importance of urban planning. Until now the main actors seem to be GE, Audi, BMW and IBM who are trying to show the potential of their fields of business for better cities in the future. The latter even dedicated a whole exhibition to the topic of SMART CITIES.
In case you are in New York have a look. The show is still on until the 23rd of October. If you have the possibility to visit the exhibition please post some information and images!
WE WON …. the prize for the BEST DESIGN OBJECT … at ArchMoscow 2011!
Around 27.000 people visited the exhibition this year and the renown jury voted for our HEDRONICS chair as the BEST DESIGN. Especially for the exhibition we created three new editions of the design.
ABOUT HEDRONICS
The design of the chair is based on a simple mathematical solid shape called polyhedron which also inspired the name of HEDRONIC. The whole chair is folded out of a single piece of stainless steel. The white colour together with the origami like folding give the impression of a light paper chair. In order to reduce the weight of the chair and also make it more transparent a pattern of different holes can be applied. Three new patterns based on parametric design principles were developed for the ArchMoscow exhibition. The chair is manufactured in Russia by Nayada and can be purchased worldwide through their distributors. Prior to ArchMoscow the original chair was exhibited at the Stretenska Design Week 2010 and the Milan Furniture Fair 2011. In 2011 the chair became part of the collection of the National Architecture Museum in Moscow.

As part of anOtherWorkshop at Strelka we installed an oversized human tape-deck at the famous Afisha Piknik Festival in Kolomonskoye park in Moscow.
We marked virtual areas at the grass in the park with tape deck symbols for fast forward and play. Colors that were within this areas were tracked and played depending on the color code a specific sound bit.
For tracking we used a regular web-cam which was hooked up with a processing script.
